Government of India and the state governments have initiated several healthcare schemes and incrementally developed health care infrastructure since Independence, but there is still a huge deficiency in improving rural and tribal health infrastructure. Against this backdrop, this paper aims to critically review and discuss the inadequate rural health infrastructure and personnel in India with a focus on Tribal areas in detail. The data for this paper has been drawn from the Rural Health Statistics (RHS) and Census Reports of Government of India.
